As we usher in a brand new year, it’s the perfect time to look back and reflect on all that 2024 has brought. For me, it’s been a year of transformation, creative exploration, and invaluable personal growth.
From expanding my art business to discovering new passions, 2024 has been the year that reshaped how I approach my work, my creativity, and even my relationships.
Before we dive head first into this beautiful new opportunity, let’s take a moment to celebrate everything that made this year truly special…
A Year of Teaching and Creative Growth
This year, I expanded my horizons by offering a variety of art classes—from watercolor florals to urban sketching, and everything in between. I taught and offered several 4-week educational courses, diving deep into watercolor, oil painting, and figure drawing. One surprise success was junk journaling, which quickly became a personal favorite. Who knew I would fall so hard for creating intricate, handmade journals?
Teaching took me by surprise too. While I expected to learn a lot in the process, what I didn’t expect was how much I truly enjoyed teaching students who were eager to learn. There’s something incredibly rewarding about sharing my knowledge with others and seeing them grow. It’s been an unexpected joy and a reminder of how fulfilling teaching can be when it’s about empowering others.
The Magic of Wedding Invitations
If there’s one thing I discovered about myself in 2024, it’s that I absolutely love creating wedding invitations. There’s a unique joy that comes from working with brides who are full of excitement and anticipation for their big day. Being able to bring their vision to life—whether it’s whimsical, elegant, or completely custom—has been one of the most rewarding parts of my business. Every design feels like a chance to make someone’s day that much more special and memorable.
There’s something magical about crafting invitations that capture the spirit of the couple’s love story, and I can’t wait to continue this work into 2025.
Here’s to the Next 40 Years!
It’s occurred to me this year that the past 40 years haven’t necessarily been my own. The first 20 were consumed by childhood, the next 20 by raising children, and in between, my life was shaped by responsibilities and circumstances that weren’t entirely in my control. But now, for the first time, it feels like my life is truly mine.
Over the past year, I’ve realized that freedom means so much to me. The ability to create the future I want is entirely in my hands, and I’m relishing every moment of it. I’m excited to continue shaping my career, my creativity, and my life.
As I look ahead to 2025, I feel empowered and hopeful. I’m adding more creativity and art to my future, guiding others toward a life enriched by art, and bringing people’s visions to life with my own. I’ve realized that getting to live this life—traveling, working with my hands, and earning a living doing something I love—is such a privilege, and I don’t take it lightly.
Building this business has not been easy. It’s been filled with long hours, challenges, and moments of doubt. But the journey has been worth every single minute. And I wouldn’t be here without the incredible support of those who have cheered me on. To those who take my classes, share my posts, encourage me to keep going, and help spread the word to make sure the class minimums are met—you are the real MVPs of my life.
I’ve met amazing friends along the way, but even more than that, I’ve found a support system I didn’t know I had. When I feel like quitting, it’s you who keeps me going. For that, I am beyond grateful. Thank you. You know who you are.
So, here’s to the next 40 years—no more being held back by the past. Just a future full of creativity, growth, and limitless possibilities. But before I dive headfirst into that future, here’s to 2025!
